Practical serverless messaging on AWS
A working contact form and scheduled notification workflow built from focused AWS managed services, least-privilege permissions, and observable execution logs.
- Next.js 15
- TypeScript
- API Gateway
- Lambda
- SNS
- EventBridge
- CloudWatch
01 / Request-driven
Send a test message
The form validates your input, sends one POST request, and publishes the accepted message to the confirmed SNS email subscription.
02 / Time-triggered
Scheduled notification
Choose a one-time delivery window. The request creates an EventBridge schedule, and AWS owns the notification until it reaches the confirmed SNS subscriber.
The recipient is managed in Amazon SNS and must confirm the subscription. Completed one-time schedules delete themselves automatically.
Delivery path
- 01
API + Lambda
Creates the schedule
Validates the form and registers a one-time EventBridge schedule.
- 02
EventBridge
Matches the delivery time
Invokes the notification function at the selected Manila time.
- 03
Lambda + SNS
Builds and publishes
Formats the message and publishes it to the notification topic.
- 04
Email subscriber
Receives the result
Provides visible confirmation that the scheduled path completed.
System responsibilities
AWS services in the lab
Every managed service has one explicit job. IAM connects the boundaries, while CloudWatch provides the execution record needed to diagnose the complete request path.
Frontend
AWS Amplify
Builds and hosts the statically exported Next.js website.
API
API Gateway
Exposes the POST /contact and POST /schedule endpoints and manages CORS.
Compute
AWS Lambda
Validates requests, creates schedules, and formats notifications on demand.
Messaging
Amazon SNS
Publishes notifications to a confirmed email subscription.
Automation
EventBridge Scheduler
Owns each one-time delivery after the scheduling form is accepted.
Monitoring
CloudWatch
Records Lambda executions, validation outcomes, and errors.
Security
AWS IAM
Grants each service only the permissions its workflow needs.
